Balcones Toastmasters - Monday’s Notes
Jim Comer, our winningest speaker, has done it again. This past Thursday night Jim swept the deck with his great speaking powers. Our congratulations! Jim will now move into the next level of competition, Which will be held in San Antonio. Lets give Jim all our support.
- Gordon spoke on a difficult subject and problem of our times: cults. Gordon quoted Eric Hoffer who said, “…many are looking for a ‘Holy Cause’ to follow.” And sometime that can cause problems. Gordon’s speech was well done.
- Priscilla discussed “Business Ethics,” a sticky subject. “Everyone else does it,” is no reason to do it. Priscilla urged us to take the high road by embracing, Honesty, Fairness. And Justice.
- Mz Anne, with a Sears catalog, took us on a trip to long ago Christmas. What a lovely, nostalgic trip it was. Cookies, trees, the hope for snow piled up our expectations of a glorious holiday. And sure enough, a prayer to the “Snow God, Ishkamilika,” produced a white Christmas. Anne won the “Best” ribbon.
Harry won Table Topics
Antoinette won Evaluations
Anne won Speaker & Improved
