From Austin Toastmasters (Balcones, Club #3407)
We may have set a record with attendees this morning, with approximately 25 in attendance including guests! Our guests this morning included:
- Charlie Cole (now a new member--voted in at this morning's meeting)
- Scott Holder (guest of Jonathon)
- John Griffin (guest of Antoinette)
- Joan Boudreaux (guest of Jim)
- Eric Painter
- Veera Nallam
Toastmaster Jonathon kicked off the meeting with the theme of "How Do You Stay Organized?"
- Scott Perry served as Grammarian: WOD 'Asperity' Meaning: Roughness of sound, surface, or manner
- Jim Comer served as Timer
- Charlie Cole (new member) was OMT and spoke on the importance of speech preparation
- Jon Beall was TT Master, and his question for all participants was: What was the Greatest Moment of the Olympics?
Participants were Steve Levering, Cathy, Kyeli, Mike, Pace, and Jerry. The Winner was Cathy, who spoke on the great truth coming out about the little girl with the great voice was not chosen because of her looks; instead, a more attractive girl was chosen to lip-synch "Ice, Ice Baby"
WINNER: Cathy Lovelady
Speakers today were:
- Fred Maynard: "A Day in a Submarine" He spoke of his career on a submarine, and work consisting of drilling, cleaning, training, and sleeping.
- Steve Gonzales: "Talk Radio" He talked about how he became interested in talk radio, and the variety of shows.
- Gordon Baker: Spoke about the importance of evaluations in toastmasters.
WINNER: Gordon Baker
MOST IMPROVED: Fred Maynard
Evaluators were:
- Peter Ryon General Evaluator
- Priscilla TT Evaluator (Sorry, I had to go to the bathroom and missed most of her evalation. Too much coffee)
- Harry evaluated Fred, and complimented his use of gestures and humor.
- Antoinette evaluated Steve, and encouraged him to make his gestures larger but more precise, and complimented his resonating voice.
- Sonny evaluated Gordon, and commented that he did a fine job and should concentrate on what he does well to make his speeches even better.
