Balcones Toastmasters Minuets

11 February 2008

Some mornings I get a few things mixed up. Sort of like John McMillian’s fine speech “Rev. Spooner” (most improved). Or was that “Severand Rooner?” Any way my photos of weakers and sinners got all jumbled. I have substituted lovely nature shots in their place. (Note pictures not uploaded to the website, email only. -Anne) I felt somewhat like Amy’s speech, “Fight or Flight”. Surprise with minimum preparation is indeed my reward.

All the speeches were well delivered and contained the evidence of planning, practice, and preparation. Jonathan brought us a computer that claims to be easy to use. We were all delighted to receive a CD of the program he suggested. He won the ribbon.

Amanda’s Table Topics gave Steve, Anne, and myself (Hollis) neat questions about “Sweetheart Day.” Steve just drove his yellow bug right up the steps and took the ribbon.

Mary conducted the evaluation portion of our meeting with grace and humor. Priscilla did Table Topics; Dan, Karen, and John Allert gave kudos and suggestions to the speakers. Dan earned the ribbon.

The club voted to change up the meeting order, in some manner. I am not sure just what. I voted against; all others voted for. I have not given up yet, for they may find some more votes still out, or hanging chads, or dangling particles or something. Any way it is for a trial period and we can all evaluate its usefulness and vote against it later.
