Meeting Notes of 28 January 2008

One minute TM, John McMillan brought a neat quote to remember, "It is better to fail with originality than succeed with imitation". Thanks John.

Table Topics were good. Gordon’s discussion of Popeye’s penchant for spinach, with plenty of olive oil for dressing won him the ribbon. Amanda said "Me Amanda, you Tarzan," to Vlad. Priscilla took a page from "Ozzie and Harriet". And Jonathan brought Yogi Bear and Bo Bo.

  • Vinh Nguyen wowed us with a great speech titled “The Power of Language.” Opening with a quote from Caesar, he went on to deliver his speech with no notes. Quite a high mark for some of us to emulate.

  • Scott Perry asked the question, “Is Robin Dunbar a friend of yours?” Scott’s title, “Keeping up with Friends”, gave us something to consider.

  • Antoinette, the winner of the blue ribbon, entrained us with a string of notables; mailman, her dog, Jim Comer, and Princess Dy. Being jealous of one’s self is a neat trick.

John Allert won best evaluator; Gordon, best Table Topics and Antoinette best speaker.

Next week has an interesting trio of speakers; Jerry, Karen, and Dan. Be sure to be there to enjoy their work.
