Balcones Toastmasters Notes for 3 March 2008

Monday’s meeting used John Allert’s word for the day, Pithy, quite well. Table Topics Master, John McMillan had 4 pithy questions for 4 sagacious participants. Gordon had the same old penchant for the Beatles alleged music. I really got over them years ago. (?) Harry, aka, Mighty Mouse, sang along with his hero. Vinh, the winner, recalled music from his homeland, Viet Nahm. Mike Prentice defended, as if it were needed, Country Music. See you at High Noon in downtown Liberty Hill in the middle of the street.

“Don’t Get Stuck on Stupid” was the title of Steve Gonzales’s speech. Wise words from an experienced world traveler. Steve went over time, (tsk tsk tsk ) 42 seconds, and was banded from the clan’s inter circle for a week and a day.

Jon Beall took his son, and us on a tour of Yosemite in cold, cold February. Thanks for bringing us skis Jon. He said it has changed from his first trip in 1965. (Is he that old?)

Sonny brought a delightful speech entitled “Dog Gone Marriage.” Only Sonny could bark so eloquently. Sonny earned the blue ribbon.

Dan’s evaluators were Anne, awarded the “Most Improved” ribbon, Glenn, Priscilla, and Antoinette. Antoinette won “Best Evaluator”

This coming Monday is the time for our Speech Contest. Anne, the contest chairman states we have 4 speakers for the contest and perhaps one more. This will be an exciting meeting and an opportunity to hear some great speeches. I trust we will see each other early Monday, the tenth of March.

Club president, Jonathan, called an officers meeting after Monday’s affair. Each officer gave a report and all seemed well on the home front. Very few fights broke out, and those that did were quickly put down. The blood was soon mopped up and we all went home singing a lovely song, “A Hard Days Night.” HBaker
