From Austin Toastmasters (Balcones, Club #3407)
Fred Maynard was voted into Balcones Toastmasters this morning. Welcome Fred! We promise we will challenge you and I am sure you will have many interesting things to share with us. You have just embarked on a most delightful million… enjoy each step toward perfection.
It was neat to have guests this Monday. Pictured here are Gustavo Castro and Lucy Garduno. Bob Wilkerson, a friend of Jon Beall, visited also. It was good to have each of you and we trust you will return soon. Early in the morning Jennifer and her baby dropped by to say hello. She and the baby looked great, but she had to leave to soon.
- Speaker Peter Ryan’s speech entitled, “Cold Call Sales,” was most interesting. Peter had Mary help with a role-playing format, with a question and answer time to boot.
- Jon Beall has been on the go again. This time Jon shared some of his time with the folks in the “Big Apple.” Jon was impressed. He wandered around from feedlot to feedlot until he found someone that said “Where Yawl From?” She ran an eatery in downtown NYC and was from Austin. Jon’s “Impressions of New York City,” was interesting and entraining. Thanks Jon. Jon won “Most Improved.”
- Sonny Sonntag brought a speech entitled, “Why Me?” Sonny made all the right moves and techniques of good speaking. Sonny quoted Bush, Booth, Barton and Edison with stories from their lives. Their “Why Me’s” drove them on to greater successes in life, where some of us might have been hampered by assuming the position of “Its not Fair.” An encouraging and motivational speech well presented. Sonny earned the Blue Ribbon for his work.
Mike Prentice was Toastmaster for the day and used a theme of “Champaign Slogans,” which was most interesting and enlightening. Mike was careful not to bring any of the ones that are a little to close to home to discuss just yet.
Winners:
- Table Topics......Harry Savio
- Evaluator............Jim Comer
- Speaker..............Sonny Sonntag
- Most Improved...John Beall
