From Austin Toastmasters (Balcones, Club #3407)

I wish I could get this thing to print backwards, I would do it. Monday we had a "backwards" meeting. Sonny, the General Evaluator, summed up the meeting as having progressed very well. Harry, the Grammarian, reported, all used the word of the day and none spoke a discouraging word. The guardian of the time, Anne, said we were all on time, and not one fudged a minute. Gordon gave a concise report on the Table Topics participants. John Mc evaluated Priscilla, Vlad evaluated Jonathan, and Glenn did Sonny. They all did their "in advance" summaries of speeches surprisingly well.

  • "Plumeri's Passionate Principles of Leadership," was the title of Priscilla's speech. I liked the ideas brought in the speech..."Have a vision, Cut a path - Leave a trail, Make it a Big Deal, and Act and Live in our Dreams. I believe Priscilla is doing just that, and more.
  • Jonathan reported on his adventure with Toastmasters, "Two Years Later." "Plenty of Talent - Lots of Fear," is how he described himself. I found it incisive Jonathan's description of a thing so big it covers the radar screen. Jonathan won the "First" ribbon for his speech. A task well done.
  • Sonny filled in with a speech entitled "The Gift," in which he recounted some of his experiences. An auto accident, encounter with a sewing machine, and a fire in the house, all came and went without serious problems. Perhaps these, and other thing suggests we may consider becoming a "Organ Donner."

The box score winners for all this backward meeting is:

  • Steve Levering........Table Topics
  • Vlad.........................Evaluator
  • Jonathan.................Speaker & Most Improved
