Principles of the Table Topics Only Meeting

From Austin Toastmasters (Balcones, Club #3407)

This is the special Table Topics only meeting! There will be

  • 3 Table Topic Masters
  • 3 Table Topic Evaluators
  • No One Minute Toastmaster
  • No prepared speeches

For your use/reference, here is a link to the special Table Topics Only Timer Sheet (pdfdoc) that we are using. Check it out as it contains information regarding sequence, hand offs, and timing of the special roles.

During this meeting, NO ONE is immune to being called on by a Table Topic Master. ONLY the current Table Topic Master and Table Topic Evaluator may not be called on by the current Table Topic Master. During other Table Topic sessions, even they are possible prey. Toastmaster, Prayer & Pledge, Grammarian, Timekeeper and General Evaluator are also possible victims during any session. If the Grammarian or Timekeeper is called upon, they should ask the person sitting next to them to fill in for them while they are giving their response.

For you Table Topic Masters, here is a sheet listing all your possible victims. You may put a check in the "Assigned Role / attending" column for everyone at the meeting. Then as victims are called upon, please everyone, mark them as having participated in the current Table Topic Round # column. Thus each Table Topic Master will know who all has been called upon. It is possible that we can have 5 or 6 participants in each round. The is only 15-18 participants. We have been having attendance greater than this recently. So even still, those with assigned roles should be considered lesser prey... with Table Topic Evaluators and Table Topic Masters with a lower prey priority than the Toastmaster, Prayer & Pledge, Timerkeeper, Grammarian, and General Evaluator.

Please bring printed copies of the special Table Topic Only Meeting documents for the Masters and Timekeeper to the meeting. For future reference, these documents are also available on the Balcones Toastmaster's Documents page under Special Meetings.
